Laminate Flooring Vs. Wood Flooring

With all the new Laminates out there it seems like to good of a deal to pass up to save a few bucks on your home. I recently discovered a Laminate that I considered putting in my own house. Laminate has been getting a bad rap for years, but its made some serious design advancements in the last year. It feels like wood and doesn't echo like old laminates. Not to mention the color selection is amazing. All for prices under $3.00 a sq ft. So if a buyer walks in and see laminate in an over $700,000 house do you think they will have a higher expectation since they are paying so much money for a home? Buyers in this market have much more of an expectation than in the past. Our real estate advice is to probably go with wood floors and spend around $4.00-$6.00 sq ft if you plan on selling a higher end home. We believe that under $700,000 sellers can get away with these new luxury laminates and buyers are happy. Some of you out of state readers are probably dying in laughter at the thought of a lower end home being below $700,000, but thats the way California works. Happy remodeling!
